Glass wool board is an artificial inorganic material primarily composed of natural minerals-such as quartz sand and limestone-combined with chemical raw materials like soda ash. It is produced by subjecting these ingredients to high-temperature melting, followed by a centrifugal process that forms a flocculent fiber structure. Its porous composition endows it with excellent thermal insulation properties (with a thermal conductivity of 0.035–0.042 W/m·K at ambient temperature) as well as sound-absorbing capabilities. Capable of withstanding temperatures up to 500°C, it is classified as a Class A fire-retardant material. This product complies with relevant national standards, such as *Glass Wool and Its Products for Thermal Insulation* (GB/T 13350-2017).


As a representative form of glass wool insulation products, this material is widely utilized in fields ranging from building wall insulation and industrial pipe thermal protection to noise reduction in transportation vehicles. Depending on the specific application scenario, varying requirements exist regarding its nominal density; for instance, glass wool boards intended for interior wall insulation must have a nominal density of no less than 24 kg/m³, whereas those used for curtain walls require a density of no less than 32 kg/m³. Specific applications include the insulation of interior and exterior building walls, roofs, floors, steel structures, ventilation ducts, smoke control and exhaust systems, as well as agricultural greenhouses.
